MANAGEMENT
Robert K. Suto, Ph.D., President & CSO
Dr. Suto received his doctorate in Biochemistry from Colorado State University under
the direction of Professor Richard Finke. During post-doctoral studies with Professor Karolin Luger at Colorado State University, he conducted X-ray crystallography studies of nucleosome core particles containing histone variants and DNA binding polyamide ligands.
Prior to co-founding Xtal BioStructures, Dr. Suto served as a lead scientist at Pintex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a startup company focused on the development of structure-based cancer therapeutics and diagnostics. He used his multi-disciplinary background in biochemistry, chemistry, and X-ray crystallography to build the drug discovery and
development programs for Pin1 inhibitors.
Sastry Dwivedula, MBA, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Dwivedula received his Engineering degree with honors from Andhra University and MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in India. He worked in technology industries, both Public and Private ranging from Space Research, Defense Production to Computer Hardware & Software. He has just over 30 years of functional & managerial experience that includes Project & Program Management, Marketing, Finance, Business Development & Operations, several successful Start-ups and international exposure in middle east.
Mr. Dwivedula joined Xtal management team in 2007 and brings with him his extensive managerial and business development skills.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Balaji Bhyravbhatla, Ph.D.
Dr. Bhyravbhatla received his doctorate in Biophysics from Brandeis University under the guidance of Professor Donald. L. D. Caspar. He went on do a post-doctoral degree at Florida State University, after which he became a Visiting Faculty at the school. In 2001, he became a faculty member in the Biochemistry and Pharmacology department and also served as the CORE Director for the X-ray facility at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His interests and specialties include virus and protein crystallography, in addition to a background in fiber diffraction and computational methods.
Dr. Bhyravbhatla co-founded Xtal BioStructures along with Dr. Suto in April of 2005. He continues to lend his extensive experience in laboratory and project management to the company as a member of the board.
